How hot can Texas be?

Texas can get incredibly hot, Lucas!

The all-time record high temperature recorded in Texas is 120°F (48.9°C).
This record was hit on two different occasions:

  • Seymour on August 12, 1936
  • Monahans on June 28, 1994

But beyond just the record, it’s very common for large parts of Texas to experience temperatures:

  • Over 100°F (37.8°C) for many days during the summer.
  • Sometimes even 110°F (43.3°C) or higher, especially in West Texas or during particularly intense heatwaves.

And remember the heat index (the “feels like” temperature)! When high temperatures combine with humidity (especially in East and Southeast Texas), it can feel even hotter and more dangerous. Heat index values can easily soar well above 110°F or 115°F even if the actual air temperature is a bit lower.

So yes, Texas can be one of the hottest places in the United States!
